Slate Islands Spirits began with a love of the Slate Islands.
After buying a former slate quarrier's cottage on the Isle of Luing in 2022, we quickly became captivated by the islands' remarkable landscape, rich heritage and close-knit community. It wasn't long before the idea of creating a spirits company inspired by this extraordinary place began to take shape.
Everything changed in early 2026 with a chance meeting with master distiller Stuart McViccar. What started as a conversation over a few G&Ts in the local pub soon gathered momentum, and Slate Islands Spirits was born.
Our aim is simple: to create exceptional spirits that celebrate the unique character of the Slate Islands. Inspired by the rugged coastline, island traditions and the people who call these islands home, every bottle reflects a genuine sense of place.
While we honour the proud history of the islands, we're equally passionate about creating something fresh and exciting. We hope our spirits encourage more people to discover the Inner Hebrides and experience everything that makes the Slate Islands so special.
For us, this is about more than making great spirits. It's about sharing the story of the islands with the wider world and helping secure their future. That's why a percentage of every sale goes directly back into the local community, supporting charities, community groups and projects that make island life thrive. We believe that when local businesses succeed, the whole community should benefit.
